Course information

The 8-part throwing and hand building course will enable you to build on from one of our taster classes, serve as a reintroduction to ceramics from past experiences or allow you to develop a foundation knowledge as a complete beginner. Experience how to prepare clay before being shown how to centre and draw up the clay on the wheel. You will learn to throw a basic cylinder shape, before being introduced to turning and finishing your vessel and applying glaze ready for firing. You'll then move on to explore various elements of hand building such as the coil method and the use of drape and push molds to form work. These are private sessions but upto 3 friends can choose to do a course together by each purchasing an individual plan. Price:£380 What’s included? 8 x 2 hour classes of practical making and learning time followed by time to clean up. After buying this course we will contact you to schedule in your sessions if not chosen at checkout. They must be taken within a 4 month window. Part 1. Introduction to centring and making cylinders: Part 2. Introduction to developing forms: Part 3. Introduction to handles and turning vessels: Part 4. Introduction to the coil method. Part 5. Continuation of the coil method. Part 6. Introduction to drape and push molds. Part 7. Introduction to glazing: Part 8. Continuation of glazing.
