Monthly Sunday Clay Club

A relaxed hand building session for Adults

35 British pounds

Course information

Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous experience, our monthly Sunday Clay Club is a relaxed and supportive space for adults to explore and develop hand-building skills. Price is per person, per session and the number of participants can be selected at checkout. Whether you’re looking to learn the basics or build on existing knowledge, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with techniques such as coiling, slab building, surface design, decoration, and even working with plaster moulds. You’re welcome to bring along your own ideas and projects, or you can follow a guided session for inspiration and structure. If you’re working on a larger independent piece, this can be stored between sessions—just bring a suitable plastic box to keep your work at the leather-hard stage. Guided projects (subject to change): April 26th – Slab-built bud vase May 24th – Coiling for decoration: small bowl or bud vase June 21st – Ceramic bird for the garden July 19th – A village of three mini ceramic houses August 23rd – Ceramic pumpkins September 13th – Small decorative platter with surface design October 11th – Christmas decorations November 15th – Small ceramic wreath December 13th – Slab-built mug What’s included? Each session includes around two hours of hands-on making, decorating, and learning, followed by time to tidy your workspace in line with studio health and safety practices. Every stage of the hand-building process will be clearly explained as you go, and questions are always encouraged. All tools, materials, equipment, and firing are included. Aprons are provided, though we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy! Your finished work will be ready to collect approximately four weeks after your session. Clay must be fully dry before firing, and drying times can vary depending on the weather. The full drying and firing process will be explained during your class. Where can it take you? If you’d like to continue your ceramics journey, you can join additional guided workshops, attend independent sessions, or enrol in a longer five-part course to build confidence in hand-building or wheel throwing.
