Course information
Discover the art of Lino carving in this introductory session you will be guided through the process of designing, carving and printing your own Lino block. This session is being held in conjunction with Crossover Blendery at Lannock farm. To start you will learn how to use the carving tools through practice of basic cutting techniques. Making an initial practice block allowing you to experiment with mark-making that will help you get used to the tools quickly. To get the most out of the session you may wish to bring your own images to work from or prepare a composition, however plenty of inspiration will be at hand to help you during the session. You will be shown the process of transferring your image to the Lino block to carve before being guided through the inking process and how to burnish prints by hand. By the end of the workshop you will have created a reusable carving, 3 of your own prints and the knowledge and skills to continue your Lino printing journey at home. Whats included? 2 hours of hands on learning, all tools and materials needed to create your initial carving, Lino block (150mmx100mm), 3 A6 cards and envelops to create your first set of prints and a drink from the Crossover Blendery*. This session is adults only and all participants must be 18+ * A pint of draught larger or cider, a small glass of wine or a soft drink. ** Please note that the carving tools are very sharp and Weston Cottage Pottery, Wetson Cottage Craft or Crossover Blendery will not be held responsible for the incorrect use of tools resulting in injury.
