Course information

Our independent wheel throwing sessions are designed for those who already have some experience on the wheel and are looking to build confidence, refine their skills, and enjoy uninterrupted practice time. These sessions are ideal for beginners who have completed a course and want to continue developing their technique, as well as intermediate potters seeking a relaxed, self-directed environment to explore forms, improve consistency, or work on personal projects. While support is available if needed, this is not a taught class, so participants should be comfortable with the basics of centring, pulling, and shaping clay independently. You will need to provide a plastic box with a fitted lid to store work and clay between sessions. This service includes the use of tools and equipment in the studio but does not include the costs of clay, glazing or firing of work. Additional time, glaze sessions and clay can be added at the time of booking. Firing of work is worked out per cubic cm - for example a mug with handle would cost £4 inclusive of bisque and glaze firing to cone 6, payable before firing. Please note that these sessions are not suitable for complete beginners with no prior experience, or for production potters requiring high-volume or commercial use of the studio.
