Course information
Create your own one of a kind egg rack. In this 2.5 hour session you will create your own slab built egg rack that holds a dozen eggs, add texture, explore sgraffito or develop designs with underglaze to complete your piece. Using a former you will slab build your egg rack, refining and developing your own design before using underglazes or engobes to add colour, detail and pattern. You can bring along your own surface design ideas or use the provided materials to create your surface design on the day. What’s included? 2.5 hours of practical making, decorating and learning time followed by time to clean up and follow best H&S practice in a studio setting. Each step of the hand building journey will be explained as the lesson progresses and questions are welcomed! All tools, equipment, materials, and firing, as described below, are included. You will be provided with an apron, but it is advisable that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy! Work will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after your class. Clay must be bone dry to go into the kiln, the colder weather can affect drying times. The process of drying and firing will be explained at the time of your course or class. Where can it take you? Join us for other guided workshops, a taster session or come and join us on a longer 6 part course to get to grips with the basics of hand building or wheel throwing.
