Family Terracotta pumpkin making
Create a decorative terracotta pumpkin
Course information
Come with your children to create and enjoy a relaxed, hands-on pottery experience together. This family friendly session introduces the essentials of preparing clay for hand building, making it perfect for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. Price is per person and the number of participants can be selected at checkout. Minimum age is 5 years old and all children must be accompanied by a participating adult. You’ll explore using pinch pots to craft your own small hand-built terracotta pumpkin. Along the way, you’ll learn key making skills and simple decorative methods, including carving and adding three-dimensional details. Perfect for autumn displays, Halloween décor, or thoughtful handmade gifts. The session includes 1 hour of guided making time, plus time to tidy up while following good studio health and safety practices. Each step is clearly explained, and questions are always welcome, so you can learn at your own pace. All tools, materials, equipment, and firing are included. Aprons are provided, but it’s best to wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little muddy. Minimum participant age is 5 years old, younger children will need the help and support of their accompanying adult. Your finished piece will be ready to collect in around 4–6 weeks, once it has been carefully dried, fired, glazed, and fired again. Delivery can be arranged for an additional fee. As this is a detailed process, timings may vary slightly, especially in colder weather. If you’d like to continue your pottery journey, further classes can help you develop more advanced hand-building and throwing skills, refine your shapes, and explore glazing techniques. Please read the terms and conditions before booking.
