Family session Christmas Gonks

Course information

Get in the festive mood and create your own family of ceramic Christmas Gonks. You’ll hand-build and decorate your Gonk using seasonal colours and glazes to create your own Christmas decoration or gift. Minimum participant age is 7 years old. *For sessions that take place in December work may not be ready to collect in time for Christmas day* Using a combination of slab building and coiling techniques, you'll create the main form of your Gonk. You'll also have the opportunity to add your own unique details and decorative elements, giving your Gonk plenty of personality and character. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some previous clay experience, this workshop offers a fun and creative introduction to clay hand building. Come along, get creative, and leave with a handmade Christmas Gonk that's uniquely yours. Whats included? 2 hours of practical making and decorating time. All tools and materials, as well as the use of a studio apron during the session. We recommend wearing clothing that you don't mind getting a little muddy. You will be able to apply glazes on the night to complete your piece. Your work will have a clear glaze applied by me and be twice fired before being ready to pick up 4-6 weeks after your session. Clay must be completely bone dry before it can be fired, and colder weather can affect drying times. The drying and firing process will be fully explained during your workshop. Where Can It Take You?
