Family Christmas gonk workshop

Course information

An ideal session to get into the Christmas spirt! Enjoy creating your own family of festive gonks in this 2 hour hands on session. Using a plaster former you will slab build and sculpt your form, refining and developing your own character before using underglazes or engobes to add colour, detail and pattern. You can bring along your own design or use the provided materials to create a design on the day. Please note that all in attendance will need to have booked a slot, all children must have an accompanying adult. What’s included? 2 hours of practical making, decorating and learning time followed by time to clean up and follow best H&S practice in a studio setting. Suitable for ages 8+, younger children will need help and support from their accompanying adult. Each step of the handbuilding journey will be explained as the lesson progresses and questions are welcomed! All tools, equipment, materials, and firing, as described below, are included. You will be provided with an apron, but it is advisable that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy! Work will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after your class. Clay must be bone dry to go into the kiln, the colder weather can affect drying times. The process of drying and firing will be explained at the time of your course or class. Where can it take you?
