Course information
This 5 week course will enable you to build on from the beginners course or serve as a reintroduction to ceramics from past experiences. The aim of the 5 week course is to offer you space and time to further develop shapes and forms with further practice time to develop your own vessels and visions. Work can be stored to enable practice of altering and trimming forms in future sessions. What’s included? 5x. 2 hour classes of practical making and learning time followed by time to clean up. Sessions are 6-8pm on the following dates: Thursday 26th Feb throwing bigger forms Thursday 05th March focus on shape and necks Thursday 12th March completion of work Thursday 19th March turning work ready for firing Class break to allow for firing of work before glazing Thursday 02nd April glazing All tools, equipment, materials, and firing as described below are included. You will be provided with an apron, but it is advisable that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy! You can choose upto THREE of your favourite pieces to be fired and glazed. Additional pieces can be glazed and fired at a cost of £10 an item, payable before the end of the course. Work is ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after your last class. The process of drying and firing will be explained to you in detail at the time of your course or class. With prior arrangement and payment of delivery fees work may be sent via courier or another mailing service. Where can it take you? With further lessons, you can go on to develop your throwing skills; developing more complex vessel shapes and also learn how to turn and finish the bases of your thrown pots. If desired, you can even explore how to incorporate decoration such as underglaze, sgraffito and glaze layering to further enhance your pieces.
