Course information

An ideal session to get into the Christmas spirt! Enjoy with friends, come along on a date night or on your own to meet like minded people . In this 2-hour session you will create a festive Christmas gonk. Using a plaster former you will slab build and sculpt your form, refining and developing your own character before using underglazes or engobes to add colour, detail and pattern. You can bring along your own design or use the provided materials to create a design on the day. What’s included? 2 hours of practical making, decorating and learning time followed by time to clean up and follow best H&S practice in a studio setting. Each step of the handbuilding journey will be explained as the lesson progresses and questions are welcomed! All tools, equipment, materials, and firing, as described below, are included. You will be provided with an apron, but it is advisable that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy! Work will be ready for collection approximately 4 weeks after your class. Clay must be bone dry to go into the kiln, the colder weather can affect drying times. The process of drying and firing will be explained at the time of your course or class. Where can it take you? Join us for other guided workshops, a taster session or come and join us on a longer 6 part course to get to grips with the basics of hand building or wheel throwing.
