This course offers dedicated studio time in a supportive, inspiring environment where you can explore your own ideas, refine techniques, and build confidence working more independently. Whether you’re continuing from a beginner course or returning to ceramics after a break, you’ll have the freedom to shape your own projects while benefiting from expert guidance when you need it. Start date 8th May 11.30-2pm We have 4 wheels in the studio and a wide range of hand building tools. Slab and coil building - Preparing clay (wedging and conditioning), controlling thickness and preventing cracks and warping. Rolling even coils by hand, controlling coil thickness and length. In addition coil building can be used as both a structural building or decorative method. Decorative techniques - Use of texture tools, stamps and found objects, carving and sgraffito and layered surface decoration using glazes. Wheel throwing - Wedging techniques, centring and pulling walls and developing form. What’s included? 6x. 2.5 hour classes of practical making and learning time followed by time to clean up.
