Join me at the wonderful Lannock farm in Weston village to create your own ceramic garden bead totem. Garden totems add a wonderful sense of texture and depth to any garden. In this one day workshop you will be able to create a range of ceramic beads manipulating size, shape and texture before using a range of underglazes and engobes to complete your designs. What is the days structure? 10am light refreshments and demonstration 10.30-12am ceramic bead and sculpture making 12-1pm Lunch provided by Lannocks own ASADO Fire Cue - a preorder will be sent to you separately after booking 1-4pm incorporating texture and colour to complete your ceramic beads To give yourself the most amount of time to make your creation it is advised that you have a look at examples on line and come with a sense of what you intend to create. What is included? Full tuition, materials, glazes (Engobe glazes have a limited colour palette available and tend to be earth tones) rebar pole for assembly and firing in addition to light refreshments and lunch. You will be provided with an apron, but it is advisable that you wear clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy! You will be emailed when your work is ready for collection, this will be approximately 6-8 weeks after your class. The firing and dying process takes time and can take longer when the weather is colder; Clay must be bone dry before going in the kiln for its bisque firing to 1000 degrees and then time is taken to glaze your piece before its final firing to 1220 degrees. Each firing takes 24hrs in total before the kiln can be opened. With prior arrangement and payment of delivery fees work may be sent via courier or another mailing service.
